Principal’s Report
Congratulations to all our Zone Athletes on their achievements last week at the Zone Athletics carnival at Narrabeen. The weather held out and the Manly Vale team rallied together to produce some spectacular results on the day. Thank you to all the parents who attended and supported our athletes and transported them to and from the ground last week. Thank you to Mr Dylan and Mrs Birrell for all their organisation and supervision on the day.
Dancesport Gala Night- Homebush
Last Monday night our top 40 ballroom dancers from Year 5 attended Sydney Olympic Park for the Dancesport Gala event. Our dancers were among 670 students who danced the night away demonstrating their incredible talents in dancing the Salsa, Samba, Jive and Tango.
A highlight of the night was one of our aboriginal students Antwan Rhodes opening the event with a beautiful Acknowledgment of Country. It was a very proud moment for our school and his family. Congratulations to all our dancers and to Jemi Kells and Sky Tse who came 6th overall in the jive, and to Zoe Jelinek and Freddie Hancock on taking out 7th place in the Tango.
Thank you to all the parents and siblings who attended the event in support of our team and to Miss Taylor, Mrs McManus, Mrs Abrahams and Mrs Cash who also attended the evening.

Father’s Day Breakfast- Tomorrow 7.30am
Tomorrow we will have out annual Father’s Day breakfast to celebrate with all our Manly Vale dads. There will be a raffle and a photo booth, along with tea and coffee which can be purchased, so please bring in some cash with you.
Café Owl will not be open in the morning and the Father‘s Day sausage orders closed last Tuesday on Flexischools, so please eat before you come if you didn’t place an order, as there are no over the counter sales tomorrow. Thank you to all the volunteers who will be cooking the sausages tomorrow. Our school senior band and choir will be performing at the breakfast from 8.10am, with dads visiting the classrooms afterwards. Happy Father’s Day for Sunday!
Afternoon Arrangements
If you need to change afternoon pick up arrangements or send a message to your child, please make sure you contact the office before 2.00pm. After this time, the office cannot guarantee that messages will be passed on as classes are often not in their classrooms and hard to track down with sport, excursions and outdoor lessons. Parents are calling the office up to 3pm daily to organise afternoon arrangements and we are unable to get to the children in time before they leave their classrooms.

SASS Recognition Week 2022- 5-9 September
Next week we will be acknowledging the wonderful work of our School Administration and Support Staff including our office team, our teacher’s aides (SLSOs), Barry our General Assistant and Greg our IT support personnel.

NAPLAN 2022
Today year 3 & 5 students will receive their NAPLAN reports. NAPLAN is a nationwide assessment that will assist you in gauging where your child’s strengths and areas for development are in Literacy and Numeracy. The school also analyses this data and provides support and programs to assist with those students who require additional support and those that need extension work. The Learning and Support team and the Higher Order Thinking team meet fortnightly to discuss support for all students and take referrals from teachers.
The school currently has two Learning and Support teachers working 3 days a week and up to 5 teacher’s aides (School Learning and Support Officers) to assist in the classrooms and in playground with social skills. Thank you to our P & C for the $35000 worth of funds this year to fund additional time for our Learning and Support teachers Katrina Kemp and Bronwyn Loudon.

Interrelate Family Evening – Monday 12 September
This term all Year 5 & 6 students participate in the school based Interrelate program ‘Moving into the Teen Years’, where they attend three sessions in weeks 8, 9 and 10.
Every year we also offer a family evening, consisting of two 1-hour sessions which covers how babies are made and puberty. Parents can attend these sessions with their children to share in the learning.
All Stage 2 & 3 parents will have received an email invitation to this event. This is not a compulsory event. It is only targeted at families of children who are starting to ask ‘those’ questions and feel that they need support in answering them. Sometimes when Stage 2 students have older siblings attending the program, families decide this is helpful. Parents can decide if their child is ready for this information or not.
We offer this event to all families as a courtesy, attendance is at the discretion of parents.
