Cross Country 2023
We had a wonderful day down at David Thomas on Monday for this year’s school cross country carnival. All the children gathered in green, blue, red or yellow shirts to cheer their classmates on as they ran either the 2km or 3km track. The participation and effort given from all the athletes was incredible. A huge thank you to all the teachers who stood around the course cheering, marshalling, warming students up or recording results.
Congratulations to students who placed in the top 6. Ribbons will be presented at a Friday morning assembly on Friday 19 May. A district note will be going home soon regarding the zone carnival which will be held on Thursday 25 May at Curl-Curl netball courts.
Patrick Dylan – Year 6 Classroom Teacher
That’s a RAP
Last week a group of students from year 6 and some of our indigenous students started the Manly Vale School bush garden. Ramsey, from Bush to Bowl brought along some native plants to add to the garden that is already filled with vegetables and herbs.
Ramsey had the students captivated with his indigenous knowledge that he shared with them about the plants, their uses, and the land itself. The students worked tirelessly, with enthusiasm to complete the garden planting.
Student excitement, enthusiasm and personal knowledge of the plants was outstanding.
The grand finale for the students was Ramsey telling dream time stories and playing the didgeridoo. Students were so spellbound by this experience you could have heard a pin drop!

Glee Drinks
Are you having trouble opening your new Glee Can? Pop down to the canteen and you can get help to open them at the lunch order frozen treat line.
Please return your Glee Cans and Emma and Toms bottles to the canteen to be recycled.
PSSA
Please remember that there are no lunch orders on Friday's for PSSA students. PSSA students can still order Recess, we have included some yummy recess options so you can still get something great to eat before sport.
Volunteers
The canteen needs your help to get all the lunches made as well as serve at the counter. We really need Volunteers on Thursday and Friday mornings to help get all the sandwiches and toasties made. Without volunteers the canteen will not be able to offer the full range of yummy foods each day.
Please sign up below, feel free to sign up with a friend if you want, just pop both your names in the sign up sheet.

Birthday Treats
Please only order frozen birthday treats through the birthday section to ensure we have enough stock. Years 3-6 we recommend ordering birthday treats Monday- Thursday during PSSA season so that all students are at school to celebrate with their class.
Multiple drinks in orders
Please be considerate in your ordering. Many orders are being made for 3- 4 Glee drinks at a time making it hard for us to have enough stock to cater for everybody.
