Principal’s Report
Another year over and it always brings a range of mixed emotions. This last week has seen the handover of the Student Representative Council to our year 5 students for preparation on their leadership next year. Thank you to our wonderful 2022 School leaders, Class Managers and SRC representatives.

Kindergarten Graduation and Picnic
Today was the graduation ceremony for our Kindergarten 2022. 4 classes of 20 students graduated and made way for our incoming Kindergarten 2023 of 100 students. It is always an emotional day for parents, teachers and students and congratulations to all our wonderful Kindergarten students for completing one of their first school milestones.
Thank you to Mrs Oscroft for her dedicated supervision of the Kindergarten classes this year, leading such a caring and professional team of teachers; Mrs Cadence Abrahams, Miss Natasha Smyth, Mrs Rebekah Mauger and Mrs Agata Tams. We look forward to watching this group of students transition into year 1 next year!
Reports
This week all students should have received their end of year reports. A hard copy came home with students on Tuesday and an emailed copy should have been sent to email accounts on Wednesday. Please be sure to keep these reports as they can be requested by schools if you move or wish to apply for Selective classes.
Please be aware that the stage expectations is to received “Sound” (C Grade) on outcomes achievements. A High (B Grade) or and Outstanding ranking (A Grade) is only achieved if the student is working above Stage (not grade) expectations. These rankings are done in consultation with all teachers on the stage and the Executive team.
Every parent should be celebrating a “sound” level of achievement in the various Key learning Areas. If students are achieving a D Ranking, then they are working towards achieving this outcome and it may need more time and support next year to do so. An E ranking (limited achievement) usually means that the student is requiring some sort of adjustment for the learning experience, and at times a Learning and Support team intervention in this area of their schooling e.g. Additional reading instruction, 1:1 support, and/ or a personalised learning plan.
All areas of support and extension are passed on to the next year’s teacher to follow up. Congratulations to all students on their achievements this year!
Band 2023
We have had some sad news that Carlos our Junior Band conductor will not be returning in 2023 as he is staying on in Chilli for family reasons. We are currently advertising the position of Junior Band conductor so we can secure a replacement for the beginning of next year.
We had to cancel the Band Christmas party this week as Ben our other conductor has been sick also, which was a shame, but we are determined to have a welcome back evening for all new members next year and invite our Year 6 students 2022 to attend.
Next year we are still requiring some of the band committee positions to be filled. Please see the list below. If you are interested in taking on one of these positions, please feel free to email Mrs Lee for more information.

Thank you from Tina
As 2022 comes to a close, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the great team we have here at Manly Vale Public School. I know many parents have thanked the wonderful teachers their children have had this year. The K-2 parents also personally acknowledged the wonderful work of our science teachers, librarian (Mrs Susan Yardley) and Learning and Support teacher (Mrs Kemp), our General Assistant (Barry) and SLSO’s Steph, Justine and Jayne, they are extremely grateful.
I would like to also thank and acknowledge the wonderful office team Mrs Pam Davison, Mrs Annabel Marsden, Mrs Danni Wareham, Ms Steph Davison and Mrs Maria Boven for their ongoing support of us all. For always being there to assist and support sick children, answering phone calls and enquiries from everyone, supporting teachers with administration, enrolling new students, and making them feel welcomed and overseeing the ongoing financial organisation and managerial side of the school administration. They are often behind the scenes but without them the school is unable to run efficiently. They are often the first ones here each day and leave long after their working hours state. Thank you from all of us in the school community.
It has been a great year. Thanks especially to Mrs Sharon Oscroft for her ongoing supervision of all staff, students, and the Kindy team.
We as staff at Manly Vale Public School wish you a safe and happy holiday with your families. Thank you to all parents and community members for their support during 2022 and we look forward to working with you all next year.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Tina Lee - Principal
