Principal’s Report

We have had a very musical week this week with a performance from the Forest High School band last Tuesday and today our junior band performing at the Manly Vale Kindergarten.

School Leadership for 2023

Our Year 5 students are preparing to take over from year 6 at the end of the year as school leaders. Nominations for School Captains and Vice Captains have been completed and nominees are engaging in leadership experiences over the next few weeks in preparation to write their leadership speeches on Monday 28 November. The speeches will then be delivered to the school students on Tuesday 29 November. It is a very exciting time for our Year 5 students, and we congratulate all the leadership candidates on their nominations for these very important roles within the school. School Leaders will be announced to the school at Celebration of Learning on Wednesday 7 December.

Science Lessons

Our stage 3 students enjoyed investigating how fossils become trapped in sedimentary layers and learning about relative dating. Each layer represents a different type of rock or fossil. They also explored the impact of faults and folds created by tectonic plate movement, by manipulating their layers into different shapes. The students had a lot of fun!

School Counsellor Recognition Week

Our school counsellor Cliona Mulloy is such a valuable resource to our teaching team. Cliona is part of a very active Learning and Support team, and we appreciate her dedication and commitment to every student, parent, and teacher at our school. We take this opportunity to recognise Ms Mulloy for all her great work within the school.

School Tour- Today 3.30pm

Today we have our second last school tour for the year. All new families are invited to come along and have an introduction to our school with Mrs Lee.

Assemblies this Week

On Friday morning we will have a K-6 assembly under the COLA at 9.00am. An SRC meeting with guest classes 2W, 1P, 3J will be held at 2.30pm in the school hall after sport. All welcome.

2023 Kindergarten Picnic

Next Wednesday 23 November we will complete the final part of our Kindergarten Orientation program. All Kindergarten 2023 students and their families are invited to a picnic morning at Manly Dam from 10.00am. This picnic is an informal part of the program allowing families to get to know each other in preparation for next year.

Thank you, Morning Tea- Wednesday 23 November

Next Wednesday we invite all our parent and community volunteers to a morning tea hosted by the staff at Manly Vale. It is our opportunity to say thank you for all the support and assistance you give us in the classrooms, canteen, uniform shop, and fundraising events. Please feel free to come along and enjoy the morning tea with staff.

SRE and SEE morning tea- 9.35am

Volunteer morning tea- 10.45am-11.30am

Classes Next Year- Leaving the School

We are starting to prepare for next year and it is important that we have correct numbers when forming classes. Please email the school if you are leaving next year. Classes are based on professional decisions made by the classroom teachers and the executive team. Friendship groupings are one of the criteria for forming classes but not the only one. Students do need to get used to being in classes without their friends. Remember that recess and lunchtimes and across grade activities e.g. excursions, do allow students to mix and mingle with others in their cohort.

School Fees now due

Please finalise all school fees for the year as soon as possible. There are still a lot of outstanding fees, and we would appreciate you finalising payments as soon as possible.

Sausage rolls brought to you by Manly Bakery

For the remainder of the term the canteen will be trialling sausage rolls made by Manly Bakery. Manly Bakery makes our bread and rolls each week, so we are excited to offer these delicious sausage rolls to our students. We hope you enjoy them.

End of Term

The canteen will be closing for the year on 9 December. Please keep this in mind for the last week of school and plan for any frozen birthday treats you might need to order before this date. Orders for Birthday treats will be closing on 2nd November. Please make sure you place your orders before this date.

Order cut off times

Please ensure you place your order prior to 9.00am. Ordering ends at 9.00am to allow us time to prepare all the food and order the sushi for the day. If you have missed the cut off, please use the late lunch option rather than calling the canteen.

Birthday orders need to be placed by 1pm the day before (or Friday for Monday orders). This allows us to make sure we have the required stock to fulfil these orders.

Friday PSSA Lunch Orders

Don't forget, students must order through the 'PSSA Early Lunch' option on Flexischools, Not 'Friday Lunch'

Select YES to the PSSA alert so we can find your order easily.

**Remember no sushi or toasties** Your early lunch will be ready at 11.00am (recess)

Emergency Lunch Payments

The end of the year is fast approaching, please pay any outstanding amounts as soon as possible to help us finalise our accounts for the year. You can make payment via Flexischools using the IOU option.
