Principal’s Report
What a fabulous way to start the week with our Year 6 Fundraiser Inflatable Day. Thank you to Mrs Blackband and the Year 6 students for organising such a great fundraiser. All proceeds from the day will go towards a Year 6 gift for the school to be presented at Celebration of Learning.

P & C Meeting- Tuesday 8 November
Last Tuesday we held our final P & C meeting for the year. The Annual General Meeting will not be held until March next year, so you have time to nominate for positions at the beginning of the year. I would like to thank and acknowledge all the P & C Executive for all the work they have done this year:
President- Karl Treacher
Vice president- Chris Nicholls
Treasurer- Peter Weatherston
Secretary- Karen Murgatroyd
Class Coordinator- Kristen Te Pania
Karen Murgatroyd has decided to step down from the role as P & C secretary for next year. Karen has been a tireless volunteer for the P & C over the past few years. She has assisted with canteen and teaching staff recruitments, taking minutes, and followed up actions from P &C meetings, helped in the canteen and uniform shop, catered for many fundraising and community events. Karen will be greatly missed in her role as secretary next year. Thank you, Karen, for all the hours of volunteering and supporting the staff and students at Manly Vale.
Kristen Te Pania has also decided to step down next year as the class coordinators liaison. Kristen has done an amazing job communicating to all our class coordinators for the past 5 years. Kristen oversees all the fundraising commitments for all the grades and stages, communicates weekly on updates to the school and P & C calendar and has been an amazing support to the school in organising events like Mother’s Day stall and Father’s Day breakfast.
Kristen and Karen are very happy to stay on as mentors in these vital volunteer roles next year. If you are interested in taking on these positions for 2023, please email the P & C on manlyvaleprimaryschoolpc@gmail.com or the school office.
The next P&C meeting will be Tuesday 7 February 2023 where you can join up and vote and nominate for roles in preparation for the AGM on Tuesday 7 March 2023.
Thank you, Wendie and Becky
We also thanked Wendie MacDougall (uniform shop) and Becky McGowan (canteen) for the many hours they have put in keeping our uniform shop and canteen open. Becky and Wendie are always so helpful and work many hours to ensure we have a top-quality service at school. Thank you.
Congratulations OC Students- Year 4
Congratulations Max Torkington who has been offered a place in the Opportunity Class at Balgowlah Heights Public School. Olivia Taylor and Freddie Atkinson are currently on the reserve list. This is an incredible academic achievement for these Year 4 students, and we are all very proud of them.
Remembrance Day- Friday 11 November
Tomorrow our year 5 & 6 students will walk down to Manly Dam to participate in the Balgowlah RSL Remembrance Day service at 10.30am. Our Kindergarten to Year 4 students will conduct their own service in the school hall at 10.45am.
Students will wear poppies to honour those men and women who lost their lives in war. Lest We Forget.
Selective High School Applications 2024
Next Wednesday 16 November will be the final day to submit the online application for selective high school. Only Year 5 students can apply for a placement in high school for 2024.

Class Formation for 2023
As a school we spend a lot of time making classes for the following year. Classes are made on professional decisions from class teachers and the executive team based on:
- Academic needs- Clustering the gifted students and supporting Learning & Support students
- Gender balance- an even distribution of gender in each class across the grade
- Social needs and friendship groups
- Behavioural needs
- Legal and court orders
Parents do not necessarily understand the classroom dynamics or how students interact in a school setting. Parent suggestions for friendship groups are not considered when forming classes. Trust that teachers who have worked with your children know the best social combinations within the classroom.
Thank you, Morning Tea, for volunteers- Wednesday 23 November
Every year the staff at Manly Vale like to have a morning tea for our volunteers. This year the morning tea is scheduled for Wednesday 23 November in our school hall at 10.45am. If you have volunteered in the canteen, uniform shop, in the classroom, as a class coordinator or helped with P & C events please feel free to join us on the day.
Our SRE and SEE teachers are invited to have an earlier morning tea from 9.40am in the hall after the completion of their last lesson for the year.
School Fees now due
Please finalise all school fees for the year as soon as possible. There are still a lot of outstanding fees, and we would appreciate you finalising payments as soon as possible.
Leaving the School for 2023
Please email the school if you are moving away or intending to change schools for 2023. We are currently forming classes and employing staff for next year, and numbers are important to know for this organisation. Please just email the front office at manlyvale-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au if you are moving away next year.

Volunteers
Thank you to everyone that signed up. It was amazing to have so many helpers in the canteen. There is still time to sign up for a shift before the end of term.
Please sign up for a shift at the canteen to help.
The canteen needs volunteers in the mornings to make sandwiches as well as at lunch to serve at the counter. Feel free to sign up with a friend to make it more fun.

End of Term
The canteen will be closing for the year on 9 December. Please keep this in mind for the last week of school and plan for any frozen birthday treats you might need to order before this date.
Order cut off times
Please ensure you place your order prior to 9.00am. Ordering ends at 9.00am to allow us time to prepare all the food and order the sushi for the day. If you have missed the cut off, please use the late lunch option rather than calling the canteen.
Birthday orders need to be placed by 1pm the day before (or Friday for Monday orders). This allows us to make sure we have the required stock to fulfil these orders.
Friday PSSA Lunch Orders
Don't forget, students must order through the 'PSSA Early Lunch' option on Flexischools, Not 'Friday Lunch'
Select YES to the PSSA alert so we can find your order easily.
**Remember no sushi or toasties** Your early lunch will be ready at 11.00am (recess)
Emergency Lunch Payments
The end of the year is fast approaching, please pay any outstanding amounts as soon as possible to help us finalise our accounts for the year. You can make payment via flexischools using the IOU option.
