Junior Band Recruitment Program - 2023
This week our Junior Band participated in some music workshops with experienced tutors. The improvement in our Junior Band is amazing since the beginning of the year. This workshop day culminated in a performance to all the Year 2 & 3 students, who are eligible to join the Band program next year. Some interested students took home application packages which need to be returned by Friday 16 September. Alternatively, parents can register their interest via the link below.

A parent information session will be conducted over zoom at 6.30pm tonight. Please email the school if you require the zoom link.
Afternoon Pick Up
Both the school and the after-school care service “Sustainable OSCH” are experiencing a lot of confusion and misinformation around parental pick up and after school arrangements. Daily the office and the OSCH start tracking down students at the last minute to communicate changes in arrangements by parents.
There are 565 students at the school who all leave at 3.00pm. It is important that teachers, students, and the office know exactly the arrangements for individual students prior to the day. If your child is sick and not attending OSCH, tennis club or other afternoon activities you need to let those organisations know. Students also need to know in the morning who is picking them up. It is very distressing when students are waiting at the front gate or office because someone has forgotten to pick them up.
K-2 Assembly Friday 11.30am
This Friday there is a K-2 assembly in the school hall at 11.30am Principal awards and merit certificates for K-2 students will be distributed.
Fundraising Trivia Night
Tomorrow Friday 9 September there will be a short fundraising meeting in the school library at 9.00am to discuss whether the Trivia Night will go ahead. As many parents are now working full time, we have been unable to secure volunteers. The Trivia night is one of our biggest events for the year, but we still have not been able to secure an Event Coordinator for this event.
The Trivia night was scheduled for Saturday 22 October (Term 4 Week 2) and with limited weeks left till the holidays time is running out to pull an event like this together. If you are interested in managing this event or helping on the evening, please try and come to the meeting in the library tomorrow, otherwise we may need to cancel this event.
P & C Meeting- Tuesday 13 September 7.00pm
Next Tuesday we will have out final P & C meeting for the term. The meeting begins at 7.00pm to conclude at 9.00pm in the school’s staffroom. All parents welcome. Mrs Oscroft will attend the meeting as Mrs Lee will be away.
Father’s Day
Thank you to Cheryl Miles and her team of volunteers who very kindly took on this event without them this event would not have happened. A big shout out to the volunteers who responded to our desperate email for help on the day, thank you so much, we raised $3500.
Big thanks to Becky in the canteen she did an outstanding job with ordering food and keeping us in check. Her knowledge and skills are so valuable.
Corinne Helu (mum to Nixion Helu) for donating all the props for the photo booth. Amazing and thank you.
Karen from P&C your hard work once again was appreciated.

Interrelate Family Evening – Monday 12 September
This term all Year 5 & 6 students participated in the school based Interrelate program ‘Moving into the Teen Years’, where they attend three sessions during weeks 8, 9 and 10.
Every year we also offer a family evening, consisting of two 1-hour sessions which covers how babies are made and puberty. Parents can attend these sessions with their children to share in the learning.
All Stage 2 & 3 parents will have received an email invitation to this event. This is not a compulsory event. It is only targeted at families of children who are starting to ask ‘those’ questions and feel that they need support in answering them. Sometimes when Stage 2 students have older siblings attending the program, families decide this is helpful. Parents can decide if their child is ready for this information or not.
We offer this event to all families as a courtesy, attendance is at the discretion of parents.

Stage 1 – Botanic Gardens
On Monday 29 August and Monday 5 September, Stage 1 students visited the Royal Botanic Gardens, Sydney and participated in a Connection and Country Program. During the program, students learnt about how the local Aboriginal people used plants for food, medicine, tools and weapons. We then enjoyed a lovely picnic lunch in the gardens, on the harbour foreshore. Stage 1 had a fantastic time!
