Principal’s Report
Welcome back everyone to what will hopefully be a less disruptive term. With the guidelines easing regarding close contacts in the household we may be able to have less disruptions to classes this term. We will be sending home some additional RAT kits over the next few weeks to assist families in keeping up with testing. It is important to be vigilant during this cold and flu season with the testing for COVID and ensure that you keep your children at home if they have any symptoms. We will be sending students home if they have a cough, sore throat or any other COVID symptoms. A doctor’s certificate is required if your child exhibits these symptoms as part of an allergic condition, if you wish them to attend school.
Please read the guidelines carefully that were emailed yesterday.
Cross Country Carnival - Monday 2 May
Next Monday we will run our School Cross Country Carnival at David Thomas (weather permitting). The carnival will commence at approximately 9.30am and finish at approximately 12.30pm. All students from Years 3-6 and students who turn 8 this year in Year 2 will be participating in the cross country. Students are asked to wear the colours of their sport houses on the day. Sports uniform, joggers, hats, water bottles and recess are required for the day. Thank you Mr Dylan for the organisation of the carnival. Parents are welcome to turn up and help monitor the course and encourage participants as they run.
Mother’s Day Stall - Friday 6 May
We have our first P & C fundraiser for the year. Our annual Mother’s Day stall will take place on Friday 6 May. All students who wish to purchase from the stall need to bring in an unused and unwrapped gift to sell at the stall. Gifts need to be brought to the class teacher by Wednesday 4 May (next week).
When students visit the stall to purchase a gift it will cost $10.
A raffle has also been organised and tickets can be purchased through the link below:

This Friday our school leaders will lead the students in a commemorative service for ANZAC day 2022. All students will attend the service and wear poppies made this week during class. Thank you to Mrs Blackband and Mrs Pembroke for their organisation of the ceremony.
Teacher’s Strike - Wednesday 4 May
Next Wednesday 4 May the NSW Teacher’s Federation has organised industrial action to address the current staff shortages, increased teacher workload and proposed salary cap. Manly Vale Public School teachers will be supporting the strike so there will be minimal supervision at school this day. Band rehearsal is cancelled, and the canteen will be closed for orders. The school will be open at this stage, but no formal classes or routines will be able to go ahead on this day.
