The Year 6 Camp and the swimming carnival
Vision and goals for the school year
Funding priorities for 2022
School Band, canteen and uniform shop
Fundraising
All parents are encouraged to pay a $1 membership fee for the year. Either by cash in an envelope at the school office or via the canteen website in order to register to vote at the next meeting. Welcome Kindergarten 2022
The kindergarten students have all completed their Best Start assessments and are busy learning the routines of kindergarten. The teachers have reported that the children are very settled, and we were all so proud to see them all leave parents at the front gate this week and walk up to their classes by themselves.
We currently have 4 classes and a Teacher’s Aide (School Learning and Support Officer) in every classroom. Thank you to all the parents who attended the Kindergarten Information zoom last Monday.
We do hope to have a P & C welcome evening later this year for all our Kindergarten parents, along with parents of your new families.
Classes 2022
All of the students seem to be settling into their new classes. Please allow your child time to get used to the new routines of school. Every student will be a little anxious at the moment.
Year 6 Camp
Year 6 students went to the Great Aussie Bush camp last week. They were able to do all the activities even if it was in the rain. Thank you to Mrs Blackband, Mrs Ward, Mr Dylan, and Steph (SLSO) for attending the camp. I was able to go up for Wednesday night and Thursday and enjoyed participating in all the activities including canoeing, mud world and the Giant Swing.

Swimming Carnival - Tuesday 15 February
Years 3-6 students are all invited to attend this year’s swimming carnival. This year the organisation is a little different to reduce the transmission of Covid. Parents will be given the option to keep their children at home this day and participate in the home learning hub if they do not want them to attend.
Year 2 students who are turning 8 and can confidently swim 50 metres may attend otherwise all Year 2 students are to stay at school with their teachers.
We are unable to leave any 3-6 teachers here to supervise students as we need them at the pool. Parents have the option to send their child to the pool or keep them at home. Students who are attending the carnival need to return the permission note to school along with the $25 which will cover buses, pool entry and hire.
RAT Kits
Every student in the school should have received their first set of Rapid Antigen Test kits. The testing days should be on a Monday and Wednesday however we are leaving this up to the parent’s discretion.
The next batch has arrived for the next 2 weeks, so we are sending home these tests in the children’s bags on Thursday afternoon. Teachers also are testing on a Monday and Wednesday.
Teachers are not attending school if they are a close household contact, have symptoms or have Covid. You may find that your child is having different teachers now due to the above reasons. Our main aim is to keep the school operational and open to face-to-face learning. We are all doing our best to make sure we keep our school clean and that cohorts are kept separate to minimise the spread of Covid.
Cross ventilation and extra cleaning are occurring in every work area and teachers are also using the outdoors to teach students.
Please remember to keep your child at home if they are sick or displaying any cold or flu-like symptoms.
Parent Teacher Interviews
We were hoping to have zoom one on one meetings later this term depending on the guidelines. However, we need to have Class Coordinators assigned to classes as soon as possible. Teachers will be sending home communication to parents to get permission make class email lists and ask for parents to nominate as the Class Coordinator. Please keep a look out for this next week.
Kristen Te Pania will be coordinating the Class Coordinators this year.
Special education in Ethics (SEE) and Special Religious Education (SRE)
Wednesday mornings at 9.00am volunteer teachers from our parent community and local churches provide instruction in Ethics (philosophy of ethical concepts and issues) and Religion (Catholic or Protestant). Parents at enrolment are asked to designate if they wish to have their child in Ethics, Catholic Scripture, Protestant Scripture or Non-Scripture.
Ethics classes are a maximum of 22 students. These classes are instructed by parent volunteers. If you are interested in becoming an Ethics teacher please contact Tamara@tylermail.com.au. The class lists have been made from last year’s information. Please email if there is a change from last year. Ethics classes usually have a waitlist. If students aren’t able to be given an Ethics class they are put into non-scripture unless otherwise advised.
SRE and SEE classes start on Wednesday 2 March.
Please see the website for details regarding the content of these classes.

Sibling/family photos may be ordered online using the same code above or via a special sibling order envelope which can be collected at the office. Please note that sibling photos are only for siblings who are enrolled at Manly Vale Public School.
