Principal’s Report
Last Tuesday night, Year 6 had their graduation dinner, celebrating their wonderful years at Manly Vale Public School supported by many caring teachers. Their graduation ceremony last Monday also brought a tear to the eye, with many memories shared in front of a school hall full of proud parents. Thank you to all the parents who were able to come to the ceremony and to our Senior Band leaders, who we were able to hear you one more time. Well done!
Year 6 Graduation Dinner
Special thanks to the year 6 parents who decorated the school hall to make it such a fun night. To our year 6 teachers and Mrs Oscroft thank you for attending and supervising the event. It was a great way to finish the year and their primary schooling.
Special mention to Mrs Blackband who gave up many hours, coordinating with parents and P&C.

The disappointments that the year 6 grade had throughout the lockdown period certainly did not dampen the spirits of the Graduation assembly and dinner. We wish them every success in their journey through high school and sadly farewell a lot of parents who had had such a positive influence on the school.
Farewell Teachers and Families
This year we are farewelling some wonderful staff members including Mrs Karen Bellamy who has had such a supportive role in the school as the Learning and Support Teacher, Mrs Clair O’Connor who recently become our Kindergarten teacher after leaving the Teacher/Librarian role, Mrs Carly Rae another wonderful teacher on the Kindergarten team and Mrs Emily Kilbane who has been a very positive influence in the Stage 3 team. We will sadly farewell these staff members along with 20 students who are leaving the school along with year 6 on Thursday. We wish all these teachers and families from Manly Vale Public School all the best for their future adventures.

Reports sent home - Wednesday
All school reports were sent home with students yesterday. These reports have been modified to reflect the limited face to face teaching and assessments completed during Term 3. We will also email the reports so they can be kept as a digital file for future use. Please keep school reports filed in a safe place as it is surprising how many times you require them especially if your child is leaving the school.
Year 6 Clap Out - Thursday 2.45pm
This afternoon our year 6 2021 will be clapped out of the school. Only 2 parents per year 6 child may attend the clap out and line the school oval to be the last of the parade as year 6 2021 do their final exit from the school.
Older students and siblings are unable to attend the clap out this year, due to the current COVID restrictions.
Black School Shoes
Just a reminder that when you are purchasing your new school shoes for 2022 they must be “all black.” We have moved from the black leather school shoes over the past few years to provide a comfortable option of allowing “all black” runners. Unfortunately as the year has proceeded, it has been disappointing that student have begun to wear a range of black options to school as uniform. Coloured runners or joggers are only permitted on the Friday sport day and if the class has a sport afternoon, otherwise all black shoes must be worn the other days.
Thank you, Maggie Dent
Last Friday Maggie Dent made the staff a cake. She visited the school to thank all of the Manly Vale Teachers for putting students’ well-being at the forefront of learning during the remote learning phase. Many of you would have enjoyed watching Maggie’s webinar during the lockdown and may be surprised that she does love to visit Manly Vale Public School to see her grandchild.
It is always wonderful to have a visit from our “celebrity grandma” when she is up visiting her family. Thank you, Maggie!
Thank you, Executive Team
As we close on another year, I would like to take this opportunity to thank and acknowledge the amazing leadership of the executive team Mrs Oscroft (Deputy Principal), Mrs Blackband (Stage 3 - Assistant Principal), Mrs Nelson (Stage 2 - Assistant Principal), Mrs Speight (Stage 1 - Assistant Principal) and Mrs Ward (Assistant Principal - Science).
This year has certainly brought a lot of challenges, but the leadership of the school has remained stable and positive, and their ability to adapt and change their teaching methods and ability to remain connected to the students and teachers has been extraordinary. We are extremely lucky to have such a dedicated group of leaders leading our teachers and students.
Thank you, School Learning and Support Officers (SLSO)
Last Tuesday morning the staff thanked the SLSO’s Steph Davison, Jayne Crain, Justine Brabant, Mary Garth, Holly Caputo, Ann and Helen for all their support of the students at the school. Our SLSOs have been here during lockdown and assisting our more vulnerable students navigate an online learning platform. Thank you to this amazing group of caring support staff.

We still have some outstanding school fees from some families. Notes were sent home with students last week. Please make payments by the end of today.

Stage 1 End of Year Celebration
Our Stage 1 end of year celebration was held on Wednesday 8 December and our students and the teachers had the most incredible day. Whilst completely covered in glitter, glue and paint by the end of the day, they thoroughly enjoyed taking part in Christmas craft activities, enjoyed delicious snacks from the canteen and watched a hilarious and heartfelt Christmas movie that promoted our philosophy of teaching students about caring, resilience, courage, empathy, patience and persistence.

Canteen News
It has been a busy term in the Canteen, we have missed not being able to serve students over the counter, hopefully we can next year, however we thank all parents for working with us and ordering via Flexischools this term. We have some fun facts to leave you with to show just how busy we have been in the 7 weeks of this term:
In total there were 4000 orders.
The Emma and Toms Drink Karmarama won over all other drinks with 243 ordered.
Other item numbers sold just this term:
Apple and Blackcurrant frozen fruit cup where the most
popular - 580
Anzacs - 346
Our canteen made sausage rolls - 513
Bread sticks - 661
Canteen made garlic bread - 85
Quelch sticks - 376
Cheese and Ham Toasties - 101
Thank you to the parents who helped with picking up the Sushi on a Friday and for those parents who came and helped out in the canteen when we were really busy with orders. Hopefully next year we can have our full volunteer program up and running.
Message from Kerry:
Dear Parents, Children, P&C and Staff,
Thank you all so much for welcoming me into the Manly Vale Public School community and for your support over the last four years. I have loved running the canteen with Robyn and Becky, getting to know lots of fabulous volunteers as well the lovely students and staff. Thank you also for the amazing farewell gifts and cards, I feel very spoilt. I will miss everybody terribly.
Thanks again, Kerry Smallman.
Outstanding money owed to the canteen for students who have forgotten their lunch
The canteen is still owed a significant amount of money for sandwiches made for students who have come to school without their lunch. Can we please ask that all parents please pay for this service if you have received an email. $3.00 might not seem a lot but as we are providing this service daily, and we have had to make approximately 50 sandwiches just for this term, it all adds up. Payment can be made through the Flexischools app.
Thank you
We would also like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all parents who have helped over the years in the canteen as a volunteer but won't be able to return next year as they are moving away or their child will be moving onto high school. We have so appreciated all your help. We wish you and your family all the best.
Wishing everyone a happy and relaxing Christmas holiday break.
