Principal’s Report
We have had a wonderful week this week welcoming our Kindergarten and year 1 students. Most students seem to be happy to see their friends and teachers again and are busily working on catch up lessons and assessments. It is important that students now attend school as we have a lot to do before the reports go home on Wednesday 15 December.
Next week our Year 2 through to Year 6 students will be returning also. Please ensure that students are dropped and picked up from the correct gates in the mornings and afternoons. We are trying to minimalize the intermingling of grades so as to maintain safe and secure environments if we are to get a case of COVID this term. All teachers are wearing masks fulltime as are office staff. Please follow the guidelines strictly during these next few weeks as most of our students are not vaccinated.

Library News
Book Week Celebrations
We are excited to announce that we will be celebrating Book Week during week 6 this term! Book Week is celebrated annually and is a wonderful time to celebrate our love of reading and learn more about Australian authors and illustrators. Students have spent the last term studying the Children’s Book Council of Australia shortlisted books during library lessons. The theme for Book Week this year is Old Worlds, New Worlds, Other Worlds.
Virtual Author Visits
This year we are very lucky to have the opportunity to host virtual author visits with popular authors Zanni Louise and Tim Harris. Zanni is the author of the beautiful Human Kind picture book series and Tim is best known for his Exploding Endings and Mr Bambuckle’s Remarkables series. Further details about the virtual author visits will be sent home soon.
Book Week Dress Up Day
Book Week Dress up Day will be held on Friday 12 November (Week 6). Students are encouraged to dress up as a character from a book to celebrate our love of reading. Costumes don’t have to be elaborate or expensive – you can use things that you already have at home, including borrowed clothes or recycled materials. We will hold stage-based mini parades on the day and will take plenty of photos of the wonderful costumes to share with families.
Students can also look forward to a variety of book-themed challenges and special activities. These will be released during library lessons next week. We look forward to a special Book Week with MVPS!
