Principal’s Report
Welcome back to all our wonderful families. I hope you had a great holiday and are now looking forward to a return to face to face learning and an 11 week term. It is great to know we have an extra week this term to assess our students and set up for an industrious term and year ahead.
I would like to thank and congratulate all parents for the amazing work they have been doing at home during this remote learning phase and to all our wonderful teachers who have kept the momentum going through what has been a very challenging few months. We are all looking forward to seeing our students face to face again.

ICAS Competition - online option only or refund
The University of New South Wales ICAS Assessments have informed us that the ICAS Writing competition will be held at home Wednesday 13 October from 3.15-4.15pm due to the lockdown conditions. The organisers recognise that this arrangement demands a lot more of your time to prepare and supervise your child during the test. Unfortunately, there is no alternative solution offered at this time. There will be no additional time slots to ‘catch-up’ students who missed out or were not logged on at the prescribed time.
Unfortunately, this test will increase your child’s screen time due to lockdown restrictions.
ICAS Mathematics and ICAS English will proceed as per usual once we are back at school. The dates will be advised shortly. We recognise that this is not an ideal situation, but we would like to assure you that your child will have equal opportunities to demonstrate their writing prowess in the coming years.
What should I do next?
If you choose to opt-out from ICAS Writing, then:
Please contact ICAS Assessments directly on icasassessments@janison.com to secure the refund.
Please advise Mrs Banham on manlyvale-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au whether you intend to withdraw from the competition.
Please note that if your child usually attends school on Wednesdays, they will not be able to sit this test at school after hours. We would strongly advise requesting a refund from the ICAS Assessments in this case.

On Your Soap Box
Congratulations to all of the Early Stage 1 class participants on their engaging presentations of their speeches last term. All of kindergarten spoke clearly, using eye contact and body language. It was interesting hearing about what planet you would visit if you had your own rocket ship, the most interesting animal at the zoo or the happiest day you can remember.
