Principal’s Report
What a term it has been and certainly all teachers, students and parents will welcome a two-week break for the school holidays. We will return to home schooling on Tuesday 5 October after the October long weekend which falls on the last weekend of the holidays.
On that Tuesday, home learning packs can be picked up from the office and work will be uploaded on Monday 4 October. The first 3 weeks of school next term is still done remotely so online learning will be supported for all grades. School supervision is still only for essential workers and for those parents who need to leave home to work. Please do not send your children to school if you are working from home.
As restrictions ease it will become increasingly difficult to manage both online learning and school supervision. To maintain the high standard of online learning activities, marking and assessment, teachers need to also work from home. The return to school schedule is as follows:
Monday 25 October- Kindergarten and Year 1 return (+ essential workers children only)
Monday 1 November- Years 2 and 6 return (+ essential workers children only)
Monday 8 November – Years 3, 4 and 5 return
By Monday 8 November we will be at Level 3 restrictions which only allows students to stay within grade cohorts. Social distancing and strict COVID restrictions will be in place, which means that parents and visitors to the school will need to wear masks and sign in at the office. No non-essential school activities will be permissible including excursions, PSSA sport, assemblies, band and choir rehearsals etc. Only essential curriculum-based activities will be permitted on site. The school will notify parents of the specific changes as they occur.
The dance program for Stage 2 students with Ms Vanessa will begin in week 1 of next term online and then move to a face to face program once all year 3 and 4 students are back at school. We hope to put on our usual Hip Hop dance display at the end of the year to film and send home to parents.
Our gym program with Paul will resume in week 3 with Kindergarten. The Kindergarten students will have double lessons each week so that they able to meet all the gymnastic outcomes for semester 2.
Hello! from the Bitmoji Staff at Manly Vale Public School
This week Ms Mason has created a Bitmoji display of all the Manly Vale Public School staff. We have certainly learnt some new and interesting ways to connect and communicate with technology, and this week the staff decided they would create a Bitmoji of themselves to send home to our students. Can you guess who’s who?
Next term we will send home who is who in our first Bush Telegraph.

Kindy Orientation 2022
Thank you to all the parents who joined the zoom information session last Tuesday. Mrs Oscroft explained the school readiness requirements for starting Kindergarten next year and Mrs Robertson talked through a “Day in the Life of Kindergarten” along with the Best Start assessments for all Kindergarten students. It was lovely to see and meet some of new and existing parents and have time to answer questions and enquiries about the year to come.
Information packs will be available for collection next term from week 3 (Monday 18 October). Parents will need to have all their enrolment forms completed and in at the office prior to this date. The 100-point address checks will be done from this date. All parents will be required to come into the office and show the original documentation of proof of address, birth certificate and drop in any medical plans or additional information required for enrolment. Times and days will be emailed next term.
A virtual school tour and information about the school can be found on the school’s website. The uniform shop will be providing sample sizes on racks set up in the office from 2 November until 20 November. All uniform orders will be ready for pick up from the office from 27 November through to 4 December.

Year 1 & 2 Zoom -Wednesday 15 September
Yesterday our year 1 & 2 students had their first class zoom with their teachers. The teachers loved catching up with their students and wishing them all the best for the upcoming holidays. The K, 1 and 2 teachers will do weekly social zoom catch ups next term starting from week 1. Students attending school however, will not be able to join the zoom as it is too difficult to manage with a variety of classes and minimal staff supervision.
Thank you to the P & C
This week our school’s P & C dropped off lovely gifts to all the teachers. Thank you for your ongoing support of all the school staff and your thoughtfulness in organising such a personal thank you for all teachers, teachers’ aides and administration staff.
Happy Holidays
Although we are unable to go away, we are able to have picnics these holidays. I hope you all enjoy some picnics with family and friends these holidays and get a chance to have a break from technology. I would like to commend every teacher and parent for your ability to maintain continuity of learning for our students at Manly Vale Public School. You have all done such an amazing job and there is a light at the end of the tunnel now.
The school will be open over the holidays for the holiday program, run by our Before and After School Care Provider Sustainable OSCH. There are only limited places available in the OSCH these holidays and the service is for essential workers.
No students are allowed on site during the school holiday period. We have had a lot of vandalism at the school of late, and police and security patrols have been booked. If you see people on site during the holidays, please call School Security on 1300 880 021.
