Principal’s Report
Today was the final day of term 1 and what a term it has been. It was great to have the opportunity to allow Year 6 students assist their Kindergarten buddies in making special hats for the Easter parade. Thank you to all the parents who donated materials to decorate the hats. What a great way to complete the term!

Thank you, Band Committee
Thank you, Helena Edgerton, Cath Adelbert, Chris Nicholls and Katie Meyer, for cleaning up the band storeroom last Tuesday. It was very dusty and they all did a fabulous job in organising the instruments and music for our Band program.
Banner Assembly
Last Friday we had our end of term banner assembly. It was wonderful to be able to have the parents present for the special assembly. Congratulations to all the students on this wonderful achievement, in particular Martine McGowan who achieved her banner the night before.

Design Make Innovate
Our year 5 & 6 students have been designing sustainable products and processes as part of the Design Make Innovate project partnered with the local high school Mackellar Girl’s Campus. The students enjoyed working through a creative design process with assistance from their Mackellar Girl’s mentors. All of the groups presented their projects in an in-school expo judged by the year 5 & 6 teachers. Congratulations to all of the teams on their projects and to our finalists who presented their work at North Curl Curl Public School last Tuesday.

Farewell Mrs Humphreys and Mrs Legg (Science teachers)
We would like to wish Mrs Legg and Mrs Humphreys all the best for the upcoming birth of their babies. Mrs Legg and Mrs Humphreys have been a dynamic teaching team for our students teaching science and other subjects as part time RFF teachers. We look forward to your return to teaching sometime next year.
Brainstorm Productions - Tuesday 20 April (first day Term 2)
All students will attend the incursion “Magic Words” on the first day back at school next term. The incursion is in the school hall and has been invoiced through the Whole School Program fees under “visiting performers.” Please be sure to pay for this incursion before the start of term.
The incursion is a live performance that inspires children to face life’s difficulties with kindness and compassion. The performance tells the story of 3 characters who go on a journey from turmoil and uncertainty to happiness through connecting with others, giving and receiving respect, being kind and cooperating to reach a goal.
Happy Holidays
Thank you for a great start to the year. It has been a busy time this term with camp, interviews, swimming carnivals, academic tests and Best Start for our Kindergarten students. Congratulations to our new Kindergarten students who have completed their first full term of “Big School.” Enjoy the holidays and we look forward to another productive term. Thank you to all our teachers for the extra time put into parent/teacher interviews and to the parents for taking time out of their busy schedules to attend a late afternoon meeting. Enjoy a well-deserved break with your families and friends.

Reading in the Holidays
Holidays are a time to rest and spend quality time as a family (when possible!). It is a good idea to keep up the routine of 10-30 minutes reading each day (time is dependent on the age of your child). Reading can be independent, shared or incidental (e.g. reading a shopping list or recipe) but most of all it should be enjoyable and a moment of quality time spent together.
Below are links to websites which offer advice of how to best help your child. As always, seek the support of your child’s class teacher if you require further assistance.
