Principal’s Report
Thank you to all the parents who attended the parent/teacher interviews over the past 2 weeks. It has been wonderful to catch up with all of our school community again and share the good and bad times experienced during the “Remote Learning” phase. Reports should have been sent home with you after your interview. If you are still waiting on a report please email the school and we will send it home.
Thank you to the Staff of Manly Vale
It has been a very tiring term and to finish with reports and face to face interviews has been a huge commitment from our teachers. The teachers felt that it was important to see parents and discuss their students’ progress face to face. Thank you to all the teachers for the commitment and dedication to their students and for the wonderful work they have done through this very turbulent time. They all deserve a very restful holiday and need to be acknowledged for the extras they have done to support each and every student within the school. Being on the frontline of this pandemic hasn’t been easy and I wish to acknowledge their dedication and commitment to the students during this term and last.
Thanks also to our School Learning and Support Officers (SLSOs) Steph, Mary, Pete, Justine and Jayne for attending school every day to support our students and to our wonderful office staff for their ongoing work behind the scenes photocopying workbooks, calling parents, attending to sick children and supporting our teachers in the classrooms. It has been a real community effort and a credit to all staff at Manly Vale Public School that everyone remained calm and supportive of each other through this time.
Mrs Sharon Oscroft our new Deputy Principal has certainly had a “baptism of fire” to our school but has been tremendous support to everyone. Organising timetables, working from home schedules, communicating with staff, parents and students and employing additional teachers has certainly kept her busy for her first year at Manly Vale. She has been an amazing support to all.
Classroom Displays
We have been unable to show our parents our work in the classrooms, so we took photos to show what our classrooms look like displaying the wonderful work we are doing.

Lost Property
Please ensure you clearly label all items of clothing, lunch boxes & drink bottles. This week school uniform/items with names have been returned to students. Unfortunately, many items of clothing and lunchbox containers are not labelled, we have displayed these along the walkway leading up to the school, for parents and students to collect.
Staff Development Day - Monday 20 July
The first day next term is a student free day. Teachers will be engaged in professional learning and you will need to find alternate arrangements for care for that day. All students return to school on Tuesday 21 July. Please contact PrimaryOshcare on 0430 369 288 if you require care for that day.
No PSSA next term
Due to the strict social distancing guidelines, limited time for competition and the COVID 19 pandemic, winter PSSA has been cancelled. We as a school will use Fridays to run our Athletics Carnival Field events along with some school sport options. Summer PSSA will resume later in the term if allowed under the guidelines.
Traffic and Parking
New parking signs have been positioned around the local streets to the school. Please obey these parking signs so as to keep the flow of traffic around the school. Early pick up of Kindergarten students in the afternoon along with the drop off and pick up of students from the front of the school, will continue for at least the first week of next term. Please be respectful of our neighbours and do not park in their driveways during these times.

Premier’s Reading Challenge
The 2020 Premier’s Reading Challenge is well underway and now is the perfect time to record all of those books read during the school holidays!
Reminder:
Infants Students (K-2) will be completing the challenge entirely at school – you do not need to do anything at home. Students will read 30 books in library and class time and then receive a certificate at the end of the year.
Primary Students (3-6) will be expected to complete the challenge independently. They need to read 20 books and enter them into the PRC website by the closing date, Friday 28 August, to qualify for a certificate at the end of the year. Students use their regular school login to access the website.
Please see the PRC website for challenge rules, booklists and information on how to log books to your reading record online. Most questions can be answered at the PRC website, however please contact me if you cannot find the information that you need, or if you have queries relating directly to your child’s account.
