Principal’s Report
This week was our introduction to online learning and the “Learning from Home” strategy. I am sure you are all thinking that all the teachers need a pay rise as setting work and actually getting children to do the work are two different things! We realise that this time at home can be very difficult one for families and want to make sure that you are all feeling supported.
This week has been extremely hectic trying to get online work set up in Google classroom and One Note whilst also teaching face to face those students who are coming to school, as their parents are providing essential services for our community. Teachers are also trying to juggle looking after their own children as well as setting and reviewing work.
We have put together a google form for you to complete for all children in your home to see how you are managing the sharing of devices and time for your family. Please complete the short survey below so we can best understand how the online learning platform is working at home.

Work Booklets- Week 10
This week we made packs for each grade to take home. Most of the activities provided were available online, as well as in hard copy packs. Next week we will have “Master” copies of the grade/ stage requirements at the front office. If you have limited access to printers and technology we will be able to run off work in the office for you, which you can collect.
Most grades have been given enough work now for the remainder of the term. Each week, new work will be assigned through google classroom or one note (Stage 3) as required.
Week 10
Next week we will go down to skeleton staff for supervision purposes with teachers being allowed to work from home on set days. It is important to notify us of your intentions as to which days you require school supervision, should you be providing essential services for our community. If you haven’t emailed the office already, please indicate whether you will be keeping your children off for the remainder of the term, or notify us of specific days/dates you need to work.
PrimaryOshcare
Currently the Before and After school care are open for afternoon and morning supervision. They will operate during the school holiday period as well. Please make sure that you communicate with PrimaryOshCare, using the email below or phone 0430369288 and indicate what days your child will be attending the service and what days they will be discontinuing.
With so many students now away from school the PrimaryOshCare are finding it difficult to gauge which students are here, and which students are not, on each day.
“Working from Home” Photo Competition
We would like to run a competition for families to send in examples of the creative ways they are engaging with the “Working from Home” strategy. Each week in the newsletter we will publish photos of students displaying the variety of tasks and activities being completed at home. You will need to email the school a photo by Tuesday morning (10am) each week. Only 1 photo per student or 1 photo per family per week. Winners will be printed in the school’s newsletter.
New Sign
We have our new electronic sign up and working. We will enjoy communicating with you remotely through our new sign.
Stay Safe and Happy Families of Manly Vale
We know it is an extremely difficult time for families at the moment. Job losses, concerns for elderly family members and friends travelling or now quarantined overseas. It is important to stay positive around children. Keep them busy. Enjoy this time together. We as a staff miss our students already. Stay connected with this wonderful community. Help and support each other through this time.
We will get through it! Maybe the outcome of this crisis will be that we are all a little kinder to each other. We start appreciating all the wonderful people we have in our lives and the beautiful country we live in. Manly Vale Public School community is a community that cares. We are resilient and we will get through this challenge. Remember our motto “Caring, Sharing and Achieving your Personal Best” this applies to students, staff and parents. This is what we need to do over the next few months. Following is a link we sent out last week. Feel free to watch the video and share it with your children.
