Principal’s Report
School photos were taken today. It is always a busy day but a wonderful time to capture the wonderful class photos that show how our students are growing and maturing. It is always a challenge to get 20 students to smile all at the same time and have every student looking their best…the school photographer’s job is not an easy one. Please feel free to order photos online using code P2B 27Y HEW. Delivery will be late this term or early next term. Please be aware that there will be a choir photo, SRC representative photo and a school leader photo in addition to class, individual and sibling photos. The whole year 6 photo will also be taken at this time and appear in the Year 6 Yearbook at the end of the year.
Summer PSSA
Congratulations to all students who made PSSA teams this season. Training is usually on Friday mornings except for senior cricket who train on Thursday mornings. Thank you to our coaches below:
Junior Cricket- Mrs Aga
Banham
Senior Cricket- Mrs Nicole Backband
Eagle tag (girls) - Mrs Bianca Martin (No
training this week due to a bye)
Eagle tag (boys) A- Miss Hannah Taylor B- Ms Lisa
Cash
Newcombe ball – Miss Catherine Thomson
Volleyball – Mr Pat Dylan
Softball- Miss Natalie Panetta
There will be no PSSA games or training next week (week 7) Friday 13 March due to the Zone Swimming Carnival. PSSA teams will train during sport time that day.
Home Sport-Term 1
Students who did not make a PSSA side will be participating in the Sports in Schools cricket and netball program this term along with mini games and fundamental movement skills.
Raincoats
Please remember to pack a rain jacket in your child’s school bag every day. Umbrellas are very dangerous when there are a lot of children moving about the school. Adults are encouraged to hold the umbrellas NOT the children. It is a much safer option to pack a raincoat for inclement weather days.
Please pack a raincoat for tomorrow’s photo day as photos will be taken in the school hall.
Interrelate Parent Evening- Wednesday 11 March 6.00pm and 7.15pm
Next Wednesday we will be hosting the Interrelate Parent Evening for all parents from Years 3-6.
Session 1: Where did I come
from? (Years 3 and 4 students and parents)
Session 2: Preparing for Puberty (Years 5 and 6
students and parents)
Booking is via the school administration office or email manlyvale-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au
This is a very worthwhile program for all parents to do with their children. Cost is $32 per family for one session/ $37 per family for two sessions. Payment is made through the school office via cheques, cash of Eftpos or you may pay using the online payments tab on the Manly Vale Public School Website.
Sun Cream Application
Please make sure that you apply sun cream before your child comes to school. Teachers remind students to reapply before lunch if students have more sun cream in their bags. There is sun cream available for 3-6 students before they go out to sport on a Friday and is taken on excursions and carnivals.
The school does not supply sun cream to K-2 students and there are students who are allergic to sun cream and are unable to communicate this at this age. We encourage all parents to supply sun cream for their own children. Teachers do not apply sun cream to students for child protection reasons.
Entry to School
Please go to the office and sign in if you are entering the school. Parents should always sign in at the office or come and collect a late note or early leave pass. Unauthorised entry to the school by parents during break times is not permitted. All adults must be accounted for at all times on the school grounds.
P & C Meeting- Tuesday 10 March- 7.00pm
All parents are invited to attend next week’s P & C meeting. This is a great forum to ask questions and find out what is going on in the school. All meetings are held in the staffroom. To be a voting member of the P & C you must donate a gold coin for the membership fee.

Calling all auditors in our school community!
The financial accounts of the P&C Association are required to be audited annually. Are you available to help? Please contact manlyvaleprimaryschoolpc@gmail.com
Manly Vale P&C's financial accounts are prepared on a cash basis using Xero. The audit process is not complicated, with Xero reconciling to the bank accounts and electronic documents supporting all transactions across the bank accounts.
Background: The auditor must possess appropriate skills and experience in auditing and financial record management together with an appreciation of the issues of probity as they relate to the role of association auditor. The auditor must not have or appear to have any conflict of interest arising, for example, from a personal or business relationship with an officer of the association and must be prepared to swear that the records are a true and correct statement of the information provided by the Treasurer.
Many thanks
Karen – P&C Treasurer

Sustainability - Reusable spoons
Sadly our ‘spoon saver cards’ didn’t work out and we lost the majority of our spoons so we have now introduced a spoon deposit scheme – an extra 20c will be charged for items which need a spoon and the 20c will be returned to the child once the spoon is returned to the canteen. If a child brings their own spoon from home to use with a preordered item, we will give them the 20c when they collect their item. If any of our spoons have made their way home by mistake we would really appreciated them being returned.
Sausage Sizzle
We are having a Sausage Sizzle Day on Wednesday 8 April, $5 for a sausage sandwich, juice popper and quelch stick. Order now via Flexischools or over the counter. Please note that we will not be serving sushi or any other hot food on that day but sandwiches will be available for those not wanting a sausage.
