Principal’s Report

Thank you to all parents who came to the Parent Information Evenings over the past few weeks. It has been an invaluable time for teachers and parents to get to know each other and have an understanding of expectations and classroom routines.

Tonight there will be a high school information night at 6.00pm in the hall for any interested parents. Christine Del Galo, Principal of Mackellar Girls Campus and Paul Sheather Principal of Balgowlah Boys Campus will be here to talk about their high schools. After their talks year 6 parents are asked to stay behind to complete the high school entry forms.

Class Coordinators and Class Lists

Each class has a Class Coordinator assigned to it for communication purposes. The Class Coordinators met on Wednesday to discuss their roles and responsibilities for the year. One of the main roles of the coordinators is to form a fundraising group from within their grade/stage to organise the following events. If you are interested in being on one of these committees please email your Class Coordinator with your expression of interest.

Kindergarten

Mother’s day stall

Years 1 & 2

Father’s day breakfast

Years 3 & 4

Trivia/Social night

Year 5

Athletics Carnival cake stall

Year 6

Skip-a-thon

All events must be approved through the P & C and Principal.

Bus Passes

Please ensure that your child has a bus pass. Bus travel is free for Kindergarten, year 1 and year 2 classes. For years 3-6 students bus travel may require you to purchase a paid students opal card. The 620 bus is now very crowded and bus numbers are calculated from the number of swipes of the opal passes. It is difficult to petition the bus depot for more buses when the amount of children travelling on the buses is not reflected by the total of opal cards swiped.

Parents travelling on the bus must stand as the priority is to keep our children safe when travelling on the bus.

School Photo Day- Thursday 5 March

All students must wear full school uniform on the photo day. Black shoes and white ankle socks are compulsory. The current uniform is red shorts, skorts and a white polo or the tunic. Boys and girls can wear either of these combinations but black shoes and white socks is the footwear option. Runners and sandshoes are only permitted on sport’s days (Friday usually). There is no need to wear runners on gym days or dance days as shoes are removed during this time.

Parent Teacher Interviews- Week 9 and 10

Next week you will receive an email asking you to log into a school interview site and book an interview with your class teacher. Some parents have already met with the class teacher and another interview will not be necessary. Please make sure you take the time to book an interview next week.

Drop off/ Pick up- Kindergarten and year 1 parents

School starts at 9.00am and finishes at 3.00pm. During these times lessons are in progress. Please keep noise to a minimum outside classrooms especially around the year 1 and kindergarten classrooms. Classes are being interrupted by noisy discussions and toddlers running around these areas whilst waiting for the bell to go. Please feel free to meet your children at the bottom of the big stairs or outside the canteen area so as to alleviate the noise levels outside classrooms.

School Photos

School photographs are scheduled to be taken by Advancedlife on Thursday 5 March, 2020 (Week 6). An envelope and flyer have been distributed to all students. If possible, it is our preference that ordering be completed online to reduce administration and potential security issues related to the return of cash and envelopes on photo day. Orders for packages and sibling photographs can be placed securely online at the link below using our school’s unique 9 digit advanced order code found on the top of the envelope. Portrait and group package orders are due by photography day. Should you wish to purchase a sibling photograph online, the order must be placed no later than the day before photography day. Sibling photographs will only be taken if an order has been placed. Should you have any queries concerning school photographs or online ordering, please direct them via email to enquiries@advancedlife.com.au.
