Band Performance at Warringah Mall
Congratulations to both the junior and senior bands and their conductors Carlos and Ben for the great performances last week at Warringah Mall. It was a fabulous morning, and everyone agreed that both bands have made progress over the year. It was a great way to show off all of the additional practice and performance skills the children have attained on their last Band Tour to Bathurst.

Eagle Tag Gala Day - 31 October
Congratulations to our junior and senior eagle tag teams who competed in the recent gala day at Lionel Watts reserve. All teams managing to make the finals with our Junior Girls team winning the grand final. Thank you to all the parents who attended the day to watch and cheer on our teams and to Mrs Cash and Mrs Ward who coached the teams. Our Junior Girls will now go on to compete in the state-wide competition.
Year 5 Leadership
We are starting our leadership training of our year 5 students for 2020. We have a special leadership day on Thursday 21 November for all of our Year 5 students. Over the next few weeks our 8 school leaders will be elected by their peers to run the Student Representative Council for 2020.
We will also be electing our class managers and house captains. It is a very exciting time for all of our students and can be a very emotional time as well. I congratulate all students who bravely put themselves forward for nominations and go through the process of writing speeches and presenting them to their peers. Good luck to all nominees.
Celebration of Learning - Thursday 5 December
Our awards assembly for 2020 will be held on Thursday 5 December with our reports to go home on Tuesday 10 December. This year we will be presenting embossed certificates rather than the trophies of previous years. Parents will be sent an invitation to attend the assembly if your child is receiving an award. All year 6 parents are able to attend the last assembly of their child’s primary school journey if they wish.
Year 2 Swim School
Our Year 2 students have enjoyed swim school over the past 2 weeks. Thank you to all the teachers and staff who supported this “Learn to Swim” program.

Eagle Tag Gala Day
Last Thursday was the annual eagle tag gala day run by the NRL at Lionel Watts Reserve in Frenchs Forest. I attended with Mrs Ward and four of our talented eagle tag teams. The day was fun filled and organised so well with our students each playing 4 games in their pool. All four teams played with amazing teamwork and effort.
Congratulations to 3 of our teams for making the grand finals and a BIG congratulations to the junior girl’s team for winning the grand final 1-0 and making it through to the “champion of champions” event in a couple of weeks time!!
Thank you to the many parent supporters who came on the day (in the heat!) to encourage our players. Special thanks to Leonie Scholtens and Kristen Te Pania for helping to keep the girls organised and also to Tiffany and John Scoon for assisting with our boy’s teams. It was a terrific day!

School Student Transport Scheme 2020 Applications (including Opal Cards)
School Student applications for 2020 open from Friday 11 October 2019. Students progressing to year 3 and year 7 do not need to re-apply if they:
- Are continuing at the same school;
- Are residing at the same address;
- Have not been sent an expiry notification from Transport of NSW.
Where a student meets a new distance eligibility, the system will automatically update their entitlement. If they do not meet the new eligibility, they will receive an expiry notification.
Term Bus Pass holders will receive a notification to re-apply.
If students need to update their information or re-apply, they should go online to
https://apps.transport.nsw.gov.au/ssts/updatedetails
Applications need to be submitted before 31 December 2019 to ensure student entitlements are updated and their current entitlement/card is not cancelled. If their application is submitted after 31 December 2019, the system will automatically cancel a card and a new one will need to be issued.
Students in the Opal network applying for a SSTS or Term Bus Pass entitlement for the first time will receive their card at their nominated postal address. Cards will be mailed out from January 2020.
