Principal’s Report
Welcome back and we hope you all had a wonderful holiday break. It is hard to believe that we are in our last term of 2019. This week we had our last P & C meeting for the year with our AGM now scheduled for Tuesday 12 November at 7.00pm. All positions will be declared vacant at this meeting but only financial members of the P & C will be eligible to vote for new or existing candidates. Membership must have been paid by this last P & C meeting to be eligible to vote in the AGM.
P & C Executive
We would like to thank and acknowledge our P & C executive team for 2019 and thank them for their contributions to 2019. All of the following positions will be declared vacant at the Annual General Meeting but all current position holders are keen to stand again for 2020. Thank you so much to these volunteer parents for assisting our school community. We thank you for the many volunteer hours you dedicate to your position.

A review of the school uniform policy will also be conducted on the night. Please be in attendance at the meeting if you wish to contribute.
Trivia Night - Saturday 26 October – “School Days Now and Then” – Dress reflecting “M” or “V” Manly Vale
The teachers look forward to taking on the parent community in a trivia challenge on our last fundraiser for the year. Please organise a table and join in the fun for our Annual School Trivia Night. It will be a great way to enjoy our new school hall and meet new people within our parent community. Tickets can be purchased through our P & C fundraising website below:
http://manlyvalepcevents.org.au/
There will be plenty of prizes on the night and an auction including the main ticket item of bidding for your child to be “Principal for the Day”. This allows your child or children to have the wonderful opportunity to spend a day with Mrs Lee visiting classrooms and having morning tea with the executive team, hosting assembly and giving directions for the school for the future.
There are also “Homework Exemption” passes available for auction which you can bid for allowing your child exemption from routine that you need at this time of year. The staff look forward to joining you all on this wonderful evening. Please be sure to organise your tables and tickets by Friday 18 October.
Congratulations to our Manly Vale Public School athletes
Our champion athletes who achieved results in the Zone Athletics team will now go on to compete at a regional level in the State Athletics Carnival at Homebush this week. Congratulations Pippi Te Pania, Mackenzie Jeffs, Kirsten Evans and Hannah Huisman who have all competed this week at the State carnival. Results will be published in next week’s newsletter.

Tell Them From Me – Parent Surveys
Our school is taking part in the Tell Them From Me surveys. These surveys will provide us with valuable feedback on what our students, parents and staff think about school life. Schools in Australia and around the world have used the Tell Them From Me survey to help them improve. The survey is completed on-line and is run by an independent research company, The Learning Bar, which specialises in school-based surveys.
The responses you provide will help our school better understand how to improve student wellbeing and engagement. It will help the school identify what works to improve student outcomes. Please use the link below to complete your parent survey below:
http://nsw.tellthemfromme.com/mvps2019
You may complete multiple parent surveys if you have more than one child for example, a K-2 and 3-6 student and you would like to give specific feedback. The survey closes on 25 October 2019.
More information about the survey and the research is available on the CESE website below:
