Next Monday our Year 3 & 4 students will put on a Hip/Hop display of the dance routines they have learnt this term with Ms Vanessa. We would like to invite all parents and grandparents to this display in the school hall after lunch on Monday 23 September at 1.40pm.

Thank you to all the parents who assisted with costumes and preparation for the day. Thanks Ms Panetta and the Year 5 teachers for organising this display to complete our school dance program for 2019. Thank you Ms Vanessa for her wonderful choreography and commitment to Manly Vale Public School. We wish her all the best with the upcoming birth of her child and hope to see her back next year.

Stage 3 Camp PACER Rebate

Students from stage 3 have recently undertaken an education tour of the national capital. Students were given the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational programs with a focus on Australia’s history, culture, heritage and democracy.

Everyone had a wonderful time visiting venues such as Parliament House, The War Memorial, CSIRO, The Mint, Old Parliament House, AIS, High Court and Questacon. Thank you very much to the amazing stage 3 teachers who accompanied them, as well as Mrs Lee. These staff members ensured the children were safe, well looked after, had access to many excellent programs and helped the children have fun along the way.

The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist families in meeting the cost of the excursion the Australian Government is contributing funding per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program towards those costs. The rebate is paid directly to the school upon completion of the excursion.

Tell Them From Me – Student and Parent Surveys

This term, our school is taking part in the Tell Them From Me surveys. The survey will provide us with valuable feedback on what our students, parents and staff think about school life. Schools in Australia and around the world have used the Tell Them From Me survey to help them improve. The survey is completed on-line and is run by an independent research company, The Learning Bar, which specialises in school-based surveys.

Staff in schools will not be able to identify individual students and parents from their responses. To ensure confidentiality, participating students will receive a unique username and password. Parents will log in using one common link.

This survey will help our school better understand how to improve student wellbeing and engagement. It will help the school identify what works to improve student outcomes.

Participating in the survey is entirely voluntary. You and your child will not take part if you do not wish.

Students will automatically participate during class time in week 10. If you do not want your child to take part in the survey, please complete the form below and return it to your child's school by Monday 23 September 2019. A note will also be sent home with instructions and a link for parents to undertake their survey.

Parent link below:

http://nsw.tellthemfromme.com/mvps2019

You may complete multiple parent surveys if you have more than one child for example, a K-2 and 3-6 student and you would like to give specific feedback. The survey closes on 25 October 2019.

More information about the survey and the research is available on the CESE website:

State Dance Festival

Last Monday and Wednesday night I had the pleasure in watching some our students dance in the State Dance Festival ‘Saying it without Words’ as part of their ensemble groups. Congratulations Talia Stedman and Katie Birch in their Primary Ensemble 1, Toby Masters in his Primary Ensemble 2 and Emily Livingstone, Matilda Graham and Talia Stedman in their Sydney North Ensemble. All students then performed in the Friday matinee. Another big week of dance! The students danced beautifully and definitely made me proud. So fantastic to have so many wonderful dancers representing Manly Vale as well as ex-students dance at these fantastic festivals.

Choir Hardi Aged Care Peformance

Last Thursday the Performance Choir visited the Hardi Aged Care Home in Manly Vale to perform a selection of songs for their residents. They were met with excitement and anticipation and the performance was very well received. The choir students enjoyed their time there and were able to have some lovely conversations with the residents. It is a privilege to visit members of our local community and make such fantastic connections spanning generations. Thank you to the Performance Choir for your exceptional behaviour and singing on the day.
