Principal’s Report
Congratulations to our junior and senior bands at their performances last Wednesday night. It was a wonderful evening and a great opportunity for both our bands to showcase their improvements since our band workshops last week. Carlos and Ben our conductors did an amazing job in preparing our bands for such a performance. Thanks you to all the parents who attended the concert and to Ms Stacey and Ms Taylor for their organisation.
P & C Meeting - Tuesday 11 June
Thank you to all the parents who attended the P & C meeting last Tuesday night. These meetings are a great way to learn what is currently happening on the school and discuss events and fundraising in support of our schools’ strategic directions and school plan. There is always a report from the principal, which covers the previous month’s happenings and allows parents and community members to ask questions and discuss decisions made within the school. Please feel free to come along to the next meeting on Tuesday 13 August at 7.00pm in the staffroom.
Discussion points from last meeting:
- Healthy canteen award and congratulations
- Winter uniform options
- Construction update - October finish time. New oval planted
- Future Focused learning - professional learning being done by the staff at Manly Vale around their new work spaces and digital technology integration
- Introduction of 1:1 devices for all students
- Employment of an IT expert
- Spelling Bee and Trivia night fundraisers
- New sound system for the hall
- Reports.
School Disco - Rainbow Theme
Next Thursday 20 June we will have our first disco of the year. All students are invited to attend their session time and enjoy singing and dancing along with “DJ Andy.”
Our Year 6 students host the evening and all profits go towards their end of year function, gift to the school and sponsor child. Please send a letter to your child’s class teacher if there is someone else picking them up from the disco on the night. No students will be allowed to go home with another parent unless written permission has been given.
Session times: K-2 5.30-7.00pm and Yrs 3-6 7.10-8.40pm
Parking on the night is always difficult at pick up time so try and arrange a car pool situation if possible. No students are permitted to leave the school hall without a parent.
Reports
This time of year is always very hectic with all teachers writing reports. The reports are due to go home on Wednesday 3 July after the K-2 dance concert. Written reports can be discussed with your child’s class teacher if required next term. Simply make an appointment with the class teacher if you require further explanation.
Principal’s Award Banner Recipients
Awards will be presented at this Friday morning’s assembly in the K-2 COLA area. Parents of recipients are welcome to attend.
