Principal’s Report
This week we welcome two of our ex-students Angus Freeman and James Waddington back to do work experience. It has been an absolute pleasure catching up with these 2 wonderful boys again and learning what they are doing at school now. The boys have been busy helping in the office and classrooms for the week.
Congratulations Pipi and Lucy!
Last Friday Pipi Te Pania (10 years girls) and Lucy Scholtens (12/13years girls) went to Gosford to compete in the Regional Cross Country Carnival. Out of 70 girls in their age groups Lucy came in at 8th place and Pipi came in at 13th place. Both girls showed incredible stamina and perseverance in completing the race under wet and muddy conditions. Both are to be commended on such a great achievement for the school, district and region!
Well-done School Drama group
Our school drama group and their performance in “Why oh why did she swallow a fly?” have been selected to represent Manly Vale in the Arts Alive Drama Festival held at the Chatswood Concourse on Wednesday 25 July. Congratulations to Miss Jaala Kemp and her drama group for once again, being selected to perform as part of this festival.
Good Luck to our Dance Groups
This week our Girls’ Dance ensemble and our Senior Boys Hip Hop group will be performing at the Glen Street Theatre on Wednesday (dress rehearsal) and Thursday of this week. Both groups have been rehearsing at every opportunity and are very excited to perform this week. Thank you Miss Panetta and Miss Durazza for all your work with these groups over the past few months.
Project Penguin Expo Day- Thursday
This Thursday our years 5 and 6 students will present their Project Penguin displays at Taronga Zoo as part of an exhibition for all the local schools in the area. Congratulations to all our senior students on the exceptional effort they have all made to produce displays, games and advertisements to aid in the protection of the local penguin colony.
Kindy- Art Gallery Friday 29 June
This Friday our Kindergarten students will be attending the NSW Art Gallery in Sydney. The excursion will be a great way to finish off our second term of Kindergarten. Thank you to all the parents volunteers who are attending to help with supervision along with Mrs Speight and the Kindergarten teachers.
Half yearly Reports
Next Wednesday 4 July the half yearly reports for all classes will go home. These reports reflect the first 2 terms of work done by our students. Please remember that a “Sound” ranking on the report means that a student is performing to grade/stage expectations. Some children will receive “High” and/or “Outstanding” as a rankings but this is only for those students who are working beyond grade/stage expectations in a given area. Most students at Manly Vale Public School will receive “Sound” against most of the outcomes displayed in the reports.
If you have any concerns or require further explanation of the report please call and make an appointment with your child’s class teacher next term.
