Book Week Bookworm Guessing Competition Winners
187… is the answer to the question you’ve all been waiting for! There were 187 Bookworms squeezed into the jar for our Bookworm Guessing Competition. Two lucky year 5 students both guessed the exact number and won their share of the yummy bookworms. Congratulations to Lucy P (5L) and Elliya D (5B). The staff Bookworm Guessing Competition was also very popular and Miss Hepworth won the staff bookworms with a lucky guess of 211. Thank you so much for all your enthusiasm and excitement with this fun Book Week Competition.
Visiting Illustrator: Nathaniel Eckstrom
One of the highlights of Book Week this year was our visiting illustrator, Nathaniel Eckstrom. Nathaniel spoke about some of his inspiration, his illustration process and the importance of perseverance. He even guided us through our own instructional drawings and the results were mind-blowing. Every student produced a unique drawing that they should be proud of. Nathaniel gifted us his beautiful charcoal illustrations and we will display them in the library for all to admire.
Premier’s Reading Challenge
Hurry - only 1 more week to finish the PRC! Congratulations to the many students who have already successfully completed the PRC. If you would like to finalise your PRC there is still time. The closing date for students is Friday 19 September (Week 9). If you need help with entering books into the website please visit Mrs Morrison or Mrs Webster at the Library during lunchtime.
Reminder:
Infants Students (K-2) have completed the challenge entirely at school – you do not need to do anything at home. Students have read 30 books in library and class time and will receive a certificate at the end of the year.
Primary Students (3-6) are expected to complete the challenge independently. They need to read 20 books and enter them into the PRC website by the closing date, Friday 19 September, to qualify for a certificate at the end of the year. Students use their regular school login to access the website. Students may also visit the library at lunch for help entering their books online.
Please see the PRC website for challenge rules, booklists and information on how to log books to your reading record online. Most questions can be answered at the PRC website, however please contact me if you cannot find the information that you need, or if you have queries relating directly to your child’s account.
Happy Reading!
