Principal’s Report – Term 2 Week 9
What a wonderful week is has been for the creative arts programs. Starting with our drama groups performance last Thursday evening at the Chatswood concourse. The drama group performed a play of Mem Fox’s book “Wilfrid Gordon McDonald Partridge.” They were amazing on the night, and their teachers Ms Webster and Mrs Hacking were so proud of them all. It was a magnificent evening for Mrs Lee and the parents attending. Congratulations to all. The Drama group will perform their play for their fellow students this Friday at the 3-6 assembly at 11.00am.
Dance Ensemble- Glen Street Theatre
Last Monday our Boy’s and Girl’s Dance ensembles performed as part of the Sydney North Public Schools Dance Festival at Glen Street Theatre. Both groups entertained the audience with their professional dance routines, choreographed by Ms Vanessa. It was a magical evening and enjoyed by Mrs Lee, Mrs Mauger and parents who attended. Thank you to Ms Hepworth and Mrs Gibson for their behind-the-scenes organisation and to all the parents who drove students to rehearsals and performances.
Pyjama / Comfortable Clothes Mufti Day- Thursday 3 July
One of our SRC suggestions for this term was to host a pyjama day/ comfortable clothes day to raise money for Stewart House, our SRC charity. Students can wear appropriate winter pyjamas or tracksuits to school next Thursday and bring a gold coin for this charity. School shoes or runners must be worn for safety reasons. No Ugg boots or thongs are permitted on this day. “Oodies” are a perfect choice for this wintry weather.
Semester 1 Reports
The school reports will go out by email next Wednesday 2 July. The reports have been modified so that they are more “parent-friendly” following the new guidelines set by the Department of Education in consultation with the P&C. We hope you like the change in format and find them more informative and easier to read.
Friday Assembly - K-2 at 2.15pm/ Years 3-6 – 10.50am
This Friday 27 June we will have our final assemblies before the Banner assembly next week. Students who receive their third Principal award this Friday can submit their awards on Monday 30 June to be eligible to receive the School Banner on Friday 4 July.
Banner Assembly - Friday 4 July 9.00am

Peer Support
This week in Peer Support, children practised developing strengths. This will help them to become more resilient and optimistic. Ask your child to share strengths they identified in session. Celebrate moments of ‘having a go’, doing hard things, being brave and resilient at home.
Lights Up Drama Festival
On Thursday 19 June, the Manly Vale Drama Club had the exciting opportunity to take the stage at the Lights Up Drama Festival held at The Concourse in Chatswood. We proudly performed ‘Wilfred Gordon McDonald Partridge’ by Mem Fox, bringing the story to life with enthusiasm and confidence.
Here are some snapshots from our rehearsal and the big performance.
We are already counting down the days until our next performance at Education Day in Term 3!
Miss Webster

Stage 3 Get Creative in the Art Shack!
Our year 5 & 6 students have been thoroughly enjoying their time in Art Shack as part of the school’s enrichment art program. This term, students have explored a wide range of artistic techniques including printmaking, oil pastels, shading, and clay modelling. The Art Shack provides a fantastic opportunity for students to express their creativity, further develop their artistic skills, and produce some truly impressive artworks. We cannot wait to see more masterpieces as the year continues!
Mrs Hannah Taylor – Stage 3

Science - Stage 3 Students Current-ly Creating!
Stage 3 has been buzzing with energy as students put the finishing touches on their Makey Makey game projects! These photos capture the shocking creativity and electrifying problem-solving as students applied their understanding of conductors and insulators to engineer tactile, interactive games. It is safe to say their ideas are charged with innovation and their teamwork is positively powerful!
Mrs Sarah Humphreys - Stage 3 Science Teacher

Boys and Girls Dance Ensemble
Boys and Girls Dance Ensemble
On Wednesday 18 June and Monday 23 June, the boys and girls dance ensembles performed in the Sydney North Public Schools Dance Festival at Glen Street Theatre. Both groups worked hard throughout the semester to refine their dance skills and choreography with the help of Ms Vanessa, our incredible dance teacher!
Our students represented Manly Vale with enthusiasm and showed tremendous teamwork and pride in each performance. A big thank you to all parents, carers and family members who came to watch the live performances and support our students. We appreciate all the time taken to help with hair and make-up and coordinating travel arrangements to get each student to the performances.
Miss Hepworth and Mrs Gibson

2S & 2LW Buddy Sport with 5J
2S and 2LW Buddy Sport with 5J is so much fun each week learning fundamental movement skills

Ethics Teachers needed!
Ethics classes are an alternative to religion and non-scripture, teaching our kids to think, reason and discuss a range of ethical issues, whilst learning to respect other points of view and come to a deeper understanding of their own beliefs.
At Manly Vale, we have a very successful program but need more teachers to meet the demand for classes!
No experience needed and free online training is provided - the commitment is just a 30 minute class on a Wednesday morning, and 15 minutes to read through the lesson materials beforehand - and all materials are provided so no lesson planning needed!
If you or anyone you know is interested - please contact the ethics coordinator, Tamara Tyler, at tamara@tylermail.com.au or 0439220673
For more information about the ethics program, go to www.primaryethics.com.au.
