Principal’s Report – Term 2 Week 8
On Monday we had our Kindergarten 2026 Open Day. It was great to see parents and our new Kindergarten students enjoy the morning watching the senior school band, the choir, 2S dance performance and a lovely item from our current Kindergarten classes. Thank you to our school leaders for taking tours around the school. The parent feedback was extremely positive, and all our new families are eager to start the Kindergarten Transition program on Monday 20 October. Please make sure you have enrolled your child for Kindergarten next year. Thank you to Mrs Oscroft for all the Open Day organisation. The treasure hunt was a highlight for all our visitors.
Dance Ensembles
Last night our Boy’s & Girl’s dance ensembles performed at Glen Street as part of the Sydney North Dance Festival. They will perform again next Monday night at 8.00pm as well. Congratulations to both groups for your commitment to this program and for your professional performances this week. Thank you to Ms Vanessa, Ms Hepworth and Mrs Gibson for all the organisation and hard work that has gone into preparing these groups.

Thanks also to our wonderful conductors Ben and Surrey for their enthusiasm and passion and for providing these opportunities for our bands.

Kindergarten - Science
Kindergarten have been exploring how humans have met their basic needs over time, from early hunter-gatherers to modern farmers. Early humans survived by hunting wild animals and gathering plants, berries, seeds and nuts. Over time, people discovered they could grow their own food and domesticate animals, which allowed them to settle in one place, build homes and form communities.
Students rotated through interactive stations, including hunting with tools, gathering and sorting toy fruits and seeds, building shelters from playdough and paddle pop sticks, planting real seeds, and setting up farms with toy animals and harvesters. They also worked together to complete a puzzle showing the timeline of human development.
A big thank you to our P&C for providing the resources that made this fun and engaging lesson possible!

Dry Ice Science Experiment
Science Comes Alive with Dry Ice!
Our school was buzzing with excitement last week thanks to an impromptu and unforgettable science demonstration made possible by one of our wonderful school parents, Mr Craig Chappell, parent of Jules in 5J. With a generous donation of dry ice from Mr Chappell, along with our science staff’s passion for sharing scientific wonder, students were captivated with an interactive experiment that brought the concept of sublimation to life.
Students gathered eagerly to watch the fascinating process unfold—where dry ice, a solid form of carbon dioxide, skipped the liquid phase entirely and transformed straight into gas. The result? Billowing clouds of white fog that spilled dramatically from trays, drawing gasps of amazement and sparking curiosity in every corner of the room.
With clear explanations and fun facts, complex science was made accessible and exciting. Children were enthralled not only by the visual spectacle, but also by the learning behind it—exploring states of matter and the scientific principles that explain them.
We extend a huge thank you to Mr Chappell for his generosity, and enthusiasm and to the science teachers for taking on a very last-minute opportunity to incite the excitement of science for our students. Experiences like these inspire a lifelong love of learning and remind us all that science really is magic in action!

Peer Support
This week in Peer Support children worked with their groups to identify their strengths. They explored the following important strengths - curiosity, kindness and teamwork. Through activities and games, they recognised strengths they possess. They realise how important it is to use their strengths in different situations. During this week encourage your child to share their strengths with you.
Library News
Board Game Bonanza
We have had many students visiting the library during lunchtimes for our Board Game Bonanza. Students have enjoyed challenging their friends to a fun and competitive game of Uno or a challenging game of chess. We wish to thank families for their generous donations of board games already received! Students will love having these extra gaming options to choose from. Please enjoy these photos of Stage 1 students creating memories with friends in the library.
